I sent this on to my son who is really at times wondering what to say. So many of those 20 things to say are things that we ourselves would like to be able to ask for help but can’t seem to make ourselves do. (my pride gets in the way) Because of course we want to be able to seem that we can still do it all.

I’m coming over to clean your house.
I’m bringing five of your favorite meals.
I’m coming over to wash and fold your laundry.
I’ve hired a massage therapist that will come
    to your home.
Send a card every week expressing how much
    you care.

This, as well-meaning as it is, is *not* something to say to someone who is actually experiencing symptoms of a chronic illness. Save this one for remission.

    These
are the worst 2 things in my book. 1.Say nothing. Make no calls. No
cards. No notes of encouragement. It is easier to apologize for not
knowing what to say than to say NOTHING. 2.” Hey(fill in the name and
location where you bump into each other) I was thinking about you and I
WAS going to call ….REPEAT….REPEAT…. REPEAT. MAKE the DAMN call!!!
