Have You Ordered II Week Awareness Goodies Yet?

Where oh where has the time gone? It seems like we just started this blog and already we have tons of comments, great articles, and invisible illness week is just around the corner.
This is a friendly reminder to ask you… Have you ordered your invisible illness awareness week items yet? Although most items do not include the date if you want to have them by September 8th, you should order them by Monday, 25th. The items that say they are drop shipped–we are finding that they are taking approximately 8 to 10 business days to arrive–which is what we were told in the beginning. Orders can be sent FedEx, but the shipping fee is an astounding $30 or so.
And keep mind that next week has a holiday, so that delays things an extra day.
Items that do not have the orange button come directly from Rest Ministries in San Diego, so can be shipped out immediately upon your order being placed. This includes the “rack cards/brochures.”
I ordered one of the dog tags—and love it! I will definitely be wearing it around my neck during invisible illness week especially, and I’ll see if anyone asks any questions. I also on my new license plate frame, and my husband and best friend who (objectively, of course) agree that it just looks totally cool.
Order your items today here and help spread the word just as you’re walking or driving around town.

PRODUCT REVIEWS: Awareness Items for Your Car

I was at a red light for over 2 minutes last night, and I looked at the license plate on the in front of me. It just had the car dealership’s name. This must be one of the BEST forms of free advertising taken advantage of out there, right? Because how many of us take the 2.2 minutes (I nearly timed myself last week) to put a new license plate frame on our car?
I was so excited to think about all the people stuck behind me yesterday who saw my new license plate frame!
One of the new lines in commercials these days is “What’s in your wallet?” We ask you… “What’s on your car?”
Here are some of our favorite items for our cars to increase awareness!
These license plates turned out GREAT! They are white with printed colors in black and then a thick glossy plastic - type coating. They should last a long time!
If you’re the bumper sticker kind of person, these are simple and too the point. And a nice touch for when someone wonders why you are parking in a disabled spot but “look just fine.”
Also a nice bumper sticker from one of our past years, but it doesn’t have a date so is still just dandy!
Would you rather have a static cling on the back of your car? This one is cute enough with a roller coaster logo to get your viewpoint (”help a friend hold on”) about living with invisible illness across.
Just in case you want a bit of inspiration as you’re driving down the road, check out these scripture cards you stick in your dashboard and they reflect up onto the window. We love them!

PRODUCT REVIEW: Skeptical People In Charge? Wear a Bracelet!
August 14, 2008 by admin
Each Thursday we’re going to do a produ
ct review of one of our
awareness items!
This week our featured products are “easy things to wear when you need to ‘prove’ you have a chronic illness.”
Just this summer I asked to take a short cut through the county fair entrance line and then wait for my family to walk the maze before entering. The man guarding the gate beside the big blue handicapped sign, however, looked at me skeptically.
All I said was, “I have rheumatoid arthritis and would like to save myself a few steps. Could I wait for my family here?” He looked at me for proof of my illness. “Do you have a handicapped placard?” he asked, as if my husband would pull it out of his pocket.
My husband said, “Well, we do… but we parked in the disabled section… so it’s in the car.” The man really didn’t want to let me in, but finally relented. And as he did I thought, “I’d wish I’d worn my silicone bracelet!”
2 Items we love that may save you a bit of heartache (and a few steps too) are the National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week White Silicone Bracelets and the “dog tag” necklace.
The next time you’re going somewhere where you think you may just need to use the elevator (and everyone says, “This is for wheelchairs and strollers only,” just smile and say, “Yes, I know. I have an invisible illness and feel more comfortable taking the elevator, thanks.”

Also known as “rack cards” these 4″ x 9″ cards are a nice heavy weight and glossy. They are the kind of cards you see for all the local tourist attractions at hotels.
Either side looks great to show outward. You can show the side that has the new logo and information about National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week or the side about “what to say” and “what not to say.”
These are great cards to drop off at your local hospital, any waiting rooms you visit, your church resource table, mom “hang outs,” your local health club, occupational therapist’s office, counselor’s office–you name it!
You can see a big photo of Invisible Illness Week Cards here and order the brochures here.
Prices are at “cost” so we hope you can get plenty!
